Hon Hai to invest $65m in 2 China plants

Taiwan’s Hon Hai Precision plans to acquire stakes in two factories in China that produce components for personal computers and other electronics products. It will invest US$65 million for the stakes.
The company also said in a statement it plans to increase its shareholdings in five other Chinese plants that produce handsets and personal computer tablets for a separate investment of US$195.7 million.
The Taiwan contract maker is acquiring stakes in plants located in Chongqing and Huizhou, and increasing its stakes in factories in Chengdu, Zhengzhou, Shenzhen and Huai’an, TotalTelecom reported.
Hon Hai is the world’s largest contract maker of electronics products by revenue. One of its subsidiaries, Foxconn, makes the iPod and the iPhone for Apple.
