Honda sues over IPR dispute

Honda Motor is suing Chongqing Lifan Industry Group and Wenan Motor for trademark violation, according to Chinese media reports. Honda alleges that Chongqing Lifan trademark SOR is similar to its registered trademark SCR, which appears on engines it produces. During the trial in the Shanghai No 2 Intermediate People's Court, Honda demanded that Chongqing Lifan recall and destroy all infringing motors and asked for US$2 million in compensation. A verdict has yet to be announced. Honda has filed six other patent-related lawsuits in Shanghai courts against eight mainland motor companies.
