Honeywell to sell $1b in flight-control systems to China

Honeywell International (HON.NYSE) is preparing to announce a US$1 billion contract to supply China with flight-control systems for the country’s expanding fleet of passenger aircraft, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing industry officials. The new contract follows on the heels of a previous contract to build cockpits and braking systems for the C919 commercial jet being developed by the Commercial Aircraft Corp of China (COMAC), and to provide control systems to the AARJ-21 regional jet. Honeywell began formal collaboration with COMAC a year ago, and has assigned 350 engineers to China to work on projects here, said Tim Mahoney, president of Honeywell’s aerospace unit.
