One of five Hong Kong booksellers who disappeared last year has made harrowing allegations about how he was abducted by Chinese security agents and held incommunicado for eight months, before being released on Tuesday, the Financial Times reports. At a packed press conference in Hong Kong on Thursday night, Lam Wing-kee, the 61-year-old former manager of Causeway Bay Books, accused Beijing of violating his rights and the freedoms granted to Hong Kong, a semi-autonomous Chinese territory. The unexplained disappearance last year of the booksellers, who all worked at the same store, and their subsequent reappearance in mainland China, has gripped Hong Kong.
