Howard Johnson makes China debut

The US-headquartered mid-price hotel group Howard Johnson has opened its first property in China. The 230-room four-star Beijing Howard Johnson Paragon Hotel is the first of six Howard Johnson hotels due to open in China this year; the others will be in Shanghai, Qufu, Chengdu, Nanjing and Hangzhou. All will be management contracts and all except the Beijing and Nanjing properties will be new buildings.

The Beijing hotel, owned by Tian Hong Group, was built in 1997 and renovated earlier this year. It is located opposite Beijing’s main train station and is just five minutes from Tiananmen Square. Rack rates will start at Yn880 per night.
