HSBC breaches China's West

HSBC Holdings, which recently acquired a near 20% stake in China's fifth largest lender, Bank of Communications, got approval to open branches in Chongqing and Chengdu, its first outlets in western China. With these added to the mix, HSBC's mainland branch count rises to 12.
