Hu congratulates new KMT leader

China President Hu Jintao congratulated the newly elected leader of Taiwan's Kumintang, Ma Yingjeou, saying the victory would bring the island's leadership closer to the Mainland. Ma, who campaigned advocating closer ties to the Mainland, Taiwan's biggest partner in trade, is now well-placed for a victory in Taiwan's 2008 election.
