Hu Yaobang, whose death sparked the 1989 Tiananmen Square demonstrations, will be publicly remembered in a ceremony at the Great Hall of the People on November 20th for the first time in 16 years, according to the South China Morning Post. It will be the ninetieth anniversary of Hu's birth. Wary of provoking further popular demonstrations, the government has avoided mention of Mr Hu since 1989.
