Huawei Technologies is reinforcing its position in the foldable smartphone segment with the global launch of the Mate X7, reports the South China Morning Post. The launch comes ahead of Apple’s much-anticipated foldable iPhone and the recent announcement of Samsung Electronics’ first trifold.
The Huawei Mate X7, which was released in China last month, was rolled out globally at an event in Dubai on Thursday. Featuring a 5,600mAh battery with a heat-dissipation system, the Mate X7 promised “all-day battery life,” according to a company statement.
Huawei held nearly 70% of China’s foldable market in the first three quarters of this year, according to market research firm IDC. The market share worldwide for foldables running Huawei’s proprietary HarmonyOS was set to grow to 17% in 2026 from 11% in 2025, according to IDC.
