Huawei seeks crowd for smartphone launch

Huawei Technologies will unveil its first global stand-alone smartphone, the Ascent P6, today in a London venue famous for high-profile rock performances, The Wall Street Journal reported. After Samsung Electronics introduced its Galaxy S4 smartphone with a Broadway-style musical three months ago in New York, Huawei looks to break from its traditionally less showy launches and draw a crowd in introducing the phone. The Chinese company is striving to establish itself as a consumer brand at a time when its core telecom-equipment business faces scrutiny in the US and UK on security concerns.
