Huawei to build China Mobile network

Huawei will build an 80 x 40G WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) national backbone network for China Mobile. When finished, the network wavelength capacity will be upgraded from 10G to 40G, which means there will be more ultra-broadband services from China Mobile.

China Mobile’s push on 3G and broadband has resulted in an increase in service traffic that has strained its 10G backbone network close to capacity.

The response is the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hangzhou 40G national backbone network project which is a trial. This will be followed by an OTN (optical transport network) national backbone network in China covering core areas.

VAdvert.co.uk said that based on a report released last month by consulting firm Ovum, Huawei is currently number one in the global optical transport market and in the global WDM/OTN and 40G market segments. That can only mean it is very good at making fast networks.
