Huawei to manufacture in India

Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer Huawei Technologies will invest about US$500 million in a telecom equipment manufacturing facility in Chennai, India.
Huawei already has a major software R&D center in India with a staff of more than 2,000 engineers. It is Huawei’s largest R&D center outside China.
Huawei officials met with an Indian delegation last week when the investment in the new facility was confirmed. Another Chinese telecom manufacturer, ZTE, also has major production and engineering services in India, employing more than 1,000 Indian workers.
EE Times India reports that both Chinese companies have repeatedly said they will work with the Indian government to address India’s network security concerns. Huawei and ZTE are major suppliers of telecom gear to service providers in the booming Indian market.
