Huawei Technologies has won a court order against Motorola Solutions (MSI.NYSE) that will prevent Motorola from transferring Huawei’s trade secrets to Nokia Siemens Networks, the Wall Street Journal reported. Motorola is currently engaged in a deal to sell its network equipment operations to Nokia Siemens for US$1.2 billion. The deal is currently under review by China’s Ministry of Commerce under domestic antitrust rules that require a government review of significant mergers with the potential to impact China. Motorola has sold Huawei equipment in the past, giving it access to the Chinese firm’s technology and trade secrets. The ruling only affects the transfer of Huawei’s proprietary information and does not block the Motorola-Nokia Siemens deal itself.
