Calgary-based Husky Energy expects to draw 140 million cubic feet of natural gas per day from China’s Liwan natural gas field after making a second discovery deep below the South China Sea, the Wall Street Journal reported. The company found a second source of natural gas in the Liwan field after drilling 23 kilometers north of the reservoir they discovered in 2006. Production at the the LH 34-2 field, located several hundred kilometers southeast of mainland China, is due to begin in 2013. China’s state owned oil company, China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC), has rights to 51% working interest in the project.
