Hynix considers DRAM plant in China

Hynix Semiconductor of South Korea said it is considering setting up a joint venture dynamic random access memory (DRAM) plant in China. Hynix officials added the firm is working with the Chinese government to gain approval for the project, which would enable the company to avoid US and EU tariffs. Hynix said it will double capital spending in 2004 to US$1.2 billion.
