IBM-Apple deal hit as China excludes some products

International Business Machine Corp.’s (IBM.NYSE) app collaboration with Apple (AAPL.NASDAQ) suffered a setback after the Chinese government removed Apple from the list of companies whose products could be bought with public money due to security concerns, Bloomberg reported. China represents an increasingly important market for IBM’s handheld devices, especially after announcing a partnership with Apple last month to develop iPhone and iPad-centric software to manage devices for companies, and the move against Apple products could deter potential corporate customers. The Chinese government has reviewed reliance on foreign products as tensions escalate over cyberspying claims.
