Indian commerce minister Anand Sharma is meeting Chinese premier Wen Jiabao and minister of commerce Chen Deming as part of the eighth Joint Economic Group between the two countries. The dialogue, which is taking place after a gap of four years, will focus on the vast trade deficit that goes against India’s favor.
Times of India reports that bilateral trade between the two countries has grown from $25 billion in 2006, when the last India-China dialogue took place, to $38 billion at present.
But very little growth has taken place in terms of value added exports from India to China. The Commerce Minister wants to address ways to attend to that problem.
