Internet education market in boom times

Internet ducation on showZhang Yaoxue, director of Higher Education of China’s Education Department, is reported as having said, ‘Internet education, as a new educational model, is the most effective way to build a system of life-long learning.’

The figures bear him out. China’s Internet education market in 2006 reached a record high of RMB20.2 billion ($2.6 billion), up 23% compared with 2005. One forecast is that this year China’s Internet education market size will reach nearly RMB30 billion ($3.9 billion).

Generally speaking, China’s Internet education market is still at its preliminary stage. However, along with the development of China’s information technology and the raising of netizens’ awareness of Internet education, China’s Internet education market will continue to grow and expand.
