The Non-Ferrous Metals Corporation of China has invested nearly US$60m in the Chambishi copper mines since it bought the operation from the Zambian government in 1998 for US$20m, said the Zambia Post.
The company is also installing advanced technology at the mines to treat the slag derived from the copper and turn it into cobalt. This project will cost US$100m.
