Japan: China is producing near disputed region

Japan said China started production of either oil or gas at a gas field near the two countries' disputed border in the East China Sea, Reuters reported, citing Japanese Trade Minister Shoichi Nakagawa. Japan is holding internal discussions over how to respond. China has defended its activities by saying that all exploration has taken place in undisputed waters. China and Japan dispute ownership of the the Tianwaitian oilfield area.
