Now in the 2007 World Traveller Awards from World Traveller Magazine in China Jumeirah Han Tang Xintiandi was named Shanghai’s ‘Most Expected Hotel.’
No doubt the hotel will garner an immense number of awards once it is up and running. But an award for expectancy does seem to be stretching it somewhat.
Doris Greif, General Manager, Jumeirah Han Tang Xintiandi who received the award on behalf of the hotel said: ‘Jumeirah Han Tang Xintiandi will redefine luxury hotel standards in China and will be the most prominent and prestigious new hotel development in the downtown Luwan district of Shanghai’
And the hotel has trade marked the phrase Stay Different to encapsulate this policy although how you trade mark ‘Stay Different’ is a wonder.
The main construction phase ended with the recent roof topping ceremony and the plan is that it will open in August 2008.
Jumeirah Han Tang Xintiandi is in the heart of Xintiandi, a restaurant and bar, retail and entertainment component of a 52 hectare development in the heart of downtown Puxi, Shanghai.
The hotel, designed by New York based Kohn Pedersen Fox Architects and Japanese interior design firm Super Potato (love the name), will have 309 guestrooms, suites and villas, extensive, state-of-the-art conference and banqueting facilities for the MICE market and a Talise Wellness Spa which should be splendid.
Everyone is looking forward to it with great expectations. We know that for it is official with the winning of the ‘Most Expected Hotel’ award.
