Kandi cars power along

China-based Kandi Technologies has allied itself with major energy, information-technology and battery companies to further electronic-vehicle technology.

Kandi carKandi has agreed to an alliance with a joint venture of China National Offshore Oil and China Potevio as well as Tianneng Power, "aimed at speeding up the commercialization and achieving mass adoption" of pure electronic vehicles in China. Interesting that an oil company should be involved in this.

The group, which calls itself the Alliance for Chinese Electric Vehicle Development and Commercialization, said it has government backing.

Wall Street Journal Online added that the group’s business model includes building a comprehensive network of "battery stations," which will be a key revenue stream, throughout the country. This is fascinating as it is the first time, as far as is known, that an electric car maker has incorporated the supply of power – recharging – into its marketing plans.
