Kim meets Chinese envoy

Kim Jong-Il, leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), on Wednesday met with visiting Chinese presidential envoy Tang Jiaxuan on Sino-DPRK relations and the pending six-party talks. Tang told Kim on behalf of Chinese President Hu Jintao that China wishes to boost bilateral relations with the DPRK. Tang also said Hu has hopes that the talks could yield significant progress, while Kim said the DPRK wants a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula.
