KLM launches direct service to Xiamen

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will begin a service to Xiamen from Amsterdam starting in March next year, becoming the first airline to provide this direct flight.

Xiamen, the second-largest city in Fujian province which is becoming a center for big industry, will be the seventh new destination for the airline.

CEO and president Peter Hartman said, "From Europe, KLM has the largest destinations portfolio on Greater China (China, Hong Kong and Taiwan). With this new route KLM offers 43 weekly frequencies to China."

The service will fly thrice-weekly using Boeing 777-200ER aircraft in two classes.

SkyClub reports KLM will also be working alongside China Southern Airlines to provide connecting flights from Xiamen to other cities in China.
