Chengdu, Sichuan, has a new facility in the city’s Longquan District Economic & Technological Development Zone which is Kobelco’s new factory.It has doubled Kobelco’s excavator production capacity compared to the previous factory.
This gives it the capacity to build 5,000 excavators a year and 2,400 mini excavators. As well as producing more machines, Kobelco also plans to use the new $125 million factory to produce a wider range of machines in China for the Chinese market.
International Construction reports that at present the company’s Chinese-built excavators span the 20 to 30 ton classes, but this will be expanded to include heavier models.
