China’s second largest television maker, Konka Group, reported a net loss of nearly Yn700m for 2001, the company’s first fullyear losses since listing in 1992, South China Morning Post said. Analysts attributed the loss to the company’s manufacturing venture in India and to a new plant producing its own brand of mobile phones.
Konka’s main competitor and China’s largest maker of televisions, Sichuan Changhong Electric, announced that its 2001 profits were down on the previous year.
