KPMG chairman says Big Four auditors in talks with China

The global chairman of auditor KPMG said on Friday that a “constructive dialogue” was under way to defuse a US-China dispute over corporate auditing, Reuters reported. Months of tension over US regulators’ attempts to examine auditing work in China of US-listed Chinese companies boiled over on Wednesday when an SEC administrative law judge sanctioned the Chinese units of the world’s largest accounting firms, known as the Big Four. “We are in dialogue with the Ministry of Finance in China on the matter,” said KPMG Chairman Michael Andrew.
