[photopress:hotel_cruise_on_river.jpg,full,alignright]According to a survey conducted by the Shanghai Maritime University more than 40% of the tourists who take cruises along the Huangpu River are not satisfied.
The survey covered 450 respondents, half of whom were traveling on the river for the first time.
Many respondents felt disappointed about the areas they had to wait in, the service at the dock and the entertainment options on the cruise ships. Some tourists also felt the RMB50 ($6.62) ticket price was too expensive.
Chen Xiuping, an official from the Shanghai Port Administrative Bureau said that although the cruise tours do satisfy out-of-town tourists who only want to view the sights along the river, business tourists require more. He said that some companies stage news conferences on cruise ships and want the service on the ships to be as good as that in a luxury hotel.
