French building materials group Lafarge announced that it will invest US$60 million to build a cement
production line at its Dujiangyan JV in Chengdu, Sichuan province.
The new production line will have a daily production capacity of 5,000 tons.
Once the line is completed, the JV between Lafarge and Chengdu Dujiangyan Building Materials will have an annual production capacity of two million tons of cement.
Lafarge Dujiangyan Cement has absorbed a total investment of US$160 million since its construction began in May 2000. Lafarge operates 11 JVs in China.
