[photopress:hotels_Langham.jpg,full,alignright]The new hotel at the new Terminal 3 of the Beijing Capital International Airport will be run as Langham Place, Beijing Capital Airport Hotel and is scheduled to start operations in July 2008.
The hotel is also just minutes away from the new China International Exhibition Centre and Tianzhu Airport Industrial Zone as well as being a stroll to the new Terminal 3.
The six-storey hotel will provide over 400 luxurious bedrooms and suites. This will be a MICE hotel with 4,000 sqm of function space.
According to Chinese government officials, construction for Terminal 3 at the BCIA is progressing well and is on track to be operational in February 2008.
The Langham site states the Langham London opened in 1865 and was Europe’s first deluxe hotel. That is not a claim that is easy to support.
For example, Claridge’s was founded in 1812 as Mivart’s Hotel. In 1854, the founder sold the hotel to a Mr and Mrs Claridge. The reputation of the hotel was confirmed in 1860 when Empress Eugenie made an extended visit and entertained Queen Victoria at the hotel. You simply cannot get more de luxe that that. And it happened five years before Langham opened its doors.
What Langham can claim is that it has the first de luxe hotel at the new terminal 3 at Beijing Airport. No one can challenge that. The illustration is a model from the Langham site. There is no suggestion she will attend the opening of the hotel but one can hope.
