China PC manufacturer Lenovo Group (0992.HKG) plans to buy US software company Stoneware, one of several potential foreign acquisitions for the company, The Wall Street Journal reported. The buy out for an undisclosed figure was not intended to bulk up profits but to add new technology systems, Lenovo said. The venture will enable the manufacturer to expand its cloud-computer services, which allow access to remote information or different devices using one computer. The deal was expected to close at the end of the year. Lenovo signed a contract with US computer services company EMC (EMC.NYSE) in August for network storage. The manufacturer also unveiled plans to acquire Brazillian electronics group CCE earlier this month.
