Lenovo goes for Indonesian sales

[photopress:lenovoIndonesia.jpg, full, alignright]Lenovo, the Chinese manufacturer which swallowed IBM’s PC division, has launched its first consumer-oriented products in Indonesia.

Indonesia’s major English newspaper, The Jakarta Post, reports Lenovo’s Indonesia general manager Soeparwan Soelaeman as saying, ‘Indonesia, with its 220 million people, is quite a big market and with this strategy we hope we will be able to emulate our success in China and India.’

News from Indonesia always seems more poetic in the local language:

Lenovo meluncurkan Lenovo 3000 V100, notebook ultra portable pertama dari jajaran notebook merek Lenovo sejak perusahaan itu mengakusisi divisi PC IBM setahun yang lalu.

Total PC sales in Indonesia are expected to reach 1.3 million units in 2006, an increase of about 30 percent from last year. To handle this the company has established 10 service centers in nine major cities across Indonesia.
