Lenovo PCs are green

[photopress:lenovogreen.jpg, full, alignright]ThinkPad notebooks, ThinkCentre desktops and ThinkVision monitors have received high ratings from EPEAT, a procurement tool funded by the United States Environmental Protection Agency to help purchasers work out whether PCs are green or not. Lenovo not only met ‘green’ computer standards, but also met requirements beyond the baseline measurements of environmentally safe PCs.

42 Lenovo PCs were rated by EPEAT which shows that pretty much across the range Lenovo is working towards having an all ‘green’ product line.

Criteria that Lenovo met include manufacturing PCs with reduced levels of cadmium, lead and mercury. They are also energy efficient and Lenovo offers safe recycling options for the products. This is more important than you think. Disposing of a computer and its screen in a ecologically safe way is not easy. And most users simply will not be bothered — unless they can return the machine to the manufacturer.

ISO 14001 is the standard from International Organization for Standardization that sets guidelines for businesses to improve environmental management with provision for product take-back service and auditing of recycling vendors. Again, Lenovo meets those standards.
