Chinese computer maker Lenovo appears poised to overtake Acer in global industry rankings after seeing a strong rebound in sales.
Acer, currently third in global computer sales, saw a slight slowdown at the end of 2010.
Lenovo, now ranked fourth, has been enjoying strong growth thanks to its recent alliance with NEC, which has provided them with additional weight in emerging market sales.
The end of 2010 saw Lenovo’s profits climb 25% year-on-year while revenue grew 20% to US$5.8 billion.
GNT reports that with a closer relationship with NEC to help them improve their market share in Japan – an important market for computer sales – the race for third place is open for Lenovo.
