Lenovo (0992.HK) said shipments of personal computers rose 37.3% in 2010 to 34 million units, the South China Morning Post reported. The company’s profits rose 45% year-on-year to US$77 million in the quarter ending in September. Lenovo said strong enterprise sales and expanding consumer sales outside of China both contributed significantly to growth. Lenovo’s shipments grew more quickly than the industry overall: Market research firm Gartner said global shipments rose 13.8% year-on-year to 350.9 million units. The numbers followed statements by Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing in November that the company would pursue more balanced growth across all markets, rather than concentrating primarily on China.
