Lenovo, China's largest computer maker, sold more personal computers in the Asia-Pacific region during the first half of 2005 than any other manufacturer, The Standard of Hong Kong reported, citing IT research agency Garter. Lenovo, which did no selling outside of China before its purchase of IBM's PC division in May, captured 17.3% of the Asian market and was followed by US manufacturers Dell, at 10.8% and Hewlett-Packard, at 7.4%. China accounted for more than 80% of its sales in the region.
