[photopress:Liuhua_Hotel_2.jpg,full,alignright]The speed at which the International chains are moving into China is quite amazing. For them it is the last frontier. If they do not manage a major presence now they will have missed the boat. Note, in most cases, although not in all, they do not own any bricks and mortar. Instead they provide a management agreement which gives badging rights and automatic access to a major marketing machine. Plus, depending on the agreement, management down to a certain level.
Thus in Guangzhou, Liuhua Hotel has joined WorldHotels’ China portfolio. There is a fair amount of give and take on both sides. The chain sets standards. For example the Linhua hotel has been totally refurbished following a renovation and, as a result, transformed from a 3-star to a 4-star and joins as a First Class Collection member.
The hotel now has not just over 230 guestrooms but also a new-look business centre, fitness centre, beauty salon, sauna, massage, billiards and executive lounge. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, mini-bar, satellite TV, cable TV, IDD and Internet access. Indeed, there days if a hotel does not have these as basics it is not in the race at the middle level.
