China plans to produce 1 billion doses of a newly developed live vaccine to protect poultry from the deadly avian influenza and Newcastle disease by the end of the month, Bloomberg reported, citing the Ministry of Agriculture. Production and storage of the recombinant bivalent vaccine, which can be administered orally, nasally, by spraying or by injection, was approved December 23. The vaccine would be one-fifth the price of currently available inactivated vaccines.
