The results of ‘the most popular employers of Chinese university students’ survey’ — co-organized by China HR.com, the country’s leading job-hunting Web site, China Education Television and the QQ.com Education Channel — were announced recently in Beijing. The number of local enterprises on the list exceeded foreign enterprises for the first time.
Compared with 2007, the biggest change is that the number of local enterprises is greater than the number of foreign enterprises for the first time.
The first four places in the Top 5 list are all domestic enterprises.
China Mobile comes first for the first time this year. The State Grid, the People’s Bank of China and the China Construction Bank are all the new state-owned enterprises on the list. The Sany Group and other well-known private enterprises are also on the list.
This is a small story with big implications. If university students see local companies as their top prefeences either the foreign companies are getting it wrong — possible but not likely — or the local enterprises have massively improved in public image and staff relationships.
