A survey of executive salaries given in listed companies’ annual reports for 2001 found that the highest amount paid was Yn7.5m to the top manager of Guangdong Kelon Electrical Holdings, which made a net loss of Yn1.57bn for the year, South China Morning Post said.
This was the third year in a row that Kelon had been the most generous employer, having paid Yn1.5m in 2001 and Yn3.5m in 2000. A company spokesman said that the amount was exceptionally high last year because it included a compensation payment to a former executive who had stopped working for the company.
