Ritz-Carlton, a luxury hotel brand owned by Marriott International, will open its second property in Shanghai in April 2010.
The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong, located in the Shanghai World Financial Center in Lujiazui, will be the company’s seventh hotel on the Chinese mainland.
Ritz-Carlton has been accelerating its expansion over the past two and a half years, opening five hotels across the country.
Shanghai Daily reports that Marriott said last month that it plans to increase its China portfolio to about 70 properties over the next four years, focussing primarily on domestic tourists. In Shanghai, the company will expand to 21 hotels.
