Hong Kong's cattle supplies have been suspended because of a disagreement between the region's meat dealers and their sole mainland supplier, the South China Morning Post reported. The Hong Kong Beef and Mutton Merchants' Association said the supplier,
Ng Fung Hong, raised prices in the last two weeks but reduced the daily
supplies of cattle from 130 to fewer than 90 recently. Hong Kong beef dealers halted operations at their slaughterhouse yesterday for a period of at least three days to stockpile cattle and may resume receiving supplies once the inventory was large enough. Ng Fung Hong has a monopoly on live cattle exports to Hong Kong from the mainland.
