Tour packages that connect tourist attractions on both sides of the Taiwan Strait will emerge as a new travel fashion now that direct air and shipping links have been established, a senior Taiwanese official has predicted.
Speaking in an interview with Radio Taiwan International, The Taiwan Minister of Transportation and Communications Mao Chih-kuo (seen here) said the opening of direct cross-strait transportation links has drawn the two sides closer, which has not only benefited Taiwanese businessmen with interests on the Mainland and passengers from both sides but will also help attract foreign visitors to Taiwan.
Taiwan News reported he spoke of his conviction of many new tourist packages being launched.
He forecast, for instance, that future tour packages may include visits to the National Palace Museum in suburban Taipei and the Palace Museum in Beijing to allow vacationers to compare ancient Chinese art collections kept at the two famous museums.
