Ningbo in Zhejiang province plans to build a 54km bridge across Hangzhou Bay that will shorten road distances to Shanghai and other cities to the north, China Daily said. The sixlane bridge, which will be one of the longest sea-crossing bridges in the world, will cost Yn12bn to build.
The coastal city is also planning to enlarge its port facilities and international airport, in order to reach its goal of handling 130m tonnes of freight a year.
