Market research watchdog launched

China established a new regulatory agency for domestic market research institutions. The China Market Research Industry Association (CMRIA) will serve under the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) to draft rules, regulations and codes of conduct to supervise China's market research industry. NBS deputy director Zhu Xiangdong will serve as CMRIA president. The NBS said that China has more than 30,000 registered market research institutions with a turnover of more than US$387 million.
