[photopress:mariottrennaissance.jpg,full,alignright]Marriott International, which has five hotels in Beijing and two more under construction, has signed an agreement to manage yet another one. It will open its second Renaissance hotel in Beijing in 2008 in time for the Olympic games under a management agreement with Beijing R&F Properties Development Co. Ltd.
The 26-story, 540-room property, over a future subway station on the southern edge of the Beijing central business district, will be called the Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel. Ed Fuller, managing director of international lodging, said, ‘We are impressed by the rapid transformation of Beijing into a vibrant, international metropolis. Beijing has become one of the major regional destinations for meetings and incentive travelers.’
The Marriott portfolio in Beijing currently consists of the Renaissance Beijing, Beijing Marriott Hotel West, New World Courtyard Beijing, Beijing Palm Spring Marriott Executive Apartments and New World Jing Guang Hotel. Under construction are the JW Marriott Hotel Beijing and the Courtyard by Marriott Beijing Northeast, both of which are expected to open in early 2008.
