Explosions at a warehouse storing hazardous goods in the northeastern port city of Tianjin killed 17 and injured hundreds late Wednesday night, The New York Times reported, citing state and local media. The precise nature of the materials that exploded was not made clear, and there was no indication whether the blast was accidental or intentional. The Beijing News and other local media in Tianjin said 300 to 400 people had been hospitalized, many from injuries caused by shattered glass. The News also reported that more than 400 Tianjin residents had lined up to donate blood at the Fifth Center Hospital.
