Max Baucus, the Senate Finance Committee Chairman, has been confirmed as the new US ambassador to China with the Senate voting 96-0 in favor, Bloomberg reported. The Montana Democrat will head to China at a time of tension in the relationship between the world’s two biggest economies. Majority Leader, Harry Reid, stated before the vote that Baucus is “an excellent choice to represent America’s interests in China, a growing power in a global economy.” Baucus will succeed Gary Locke as ambassador.
