[photopress:mba_Shanghai_Tianjin_University.jpg,full,alignright]The Ministry of Culture has launched an MBA Program to train internet programming and management talent. The main object in establishing the China Education and Research Network (CERNET) is to make sure the Internet industry has a ready supply of qualified management.
Directly involved in the scheme are Shanghai Jiaotong University (its oft-photographed representative seen in our illustration) with its Information and Internet Economic Research Center and the Macau-based Asia International Open University.
This is, as far as is known, the first MBA program in China or, indeed, in Asia to focus on Internet management and Internet applications.
Behind this is the concern of the government that the management and control of the Internet is overwhelmingly in the hands of management in the United States and a concerted effort is needed to make sure China controls an appropriate share.
