The second part of the name — Teda — is short for Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area, which is part of the Tianjin Binhai New Area. To its east lies China’s second largest container port.
Renaissance Tianjin Teda Hotel & Convention Center is located in the center of this new boomtown, and you can get there from downtown Tianjin via an expressway and a mass transit light rail. The bullet train also comes here from Beijing.
It is the number and size of the meeting rooms which sets the style of the hotel.
The Renaissance has two grand ballrooms and 14 regular meeting rooms. The ballroom on the first level can be partitioned into three 12×22 meter sizes and three more 7×12 meter sizes, or when combined it can accommodate 1,500 people.
The meeting rooms can seat from 33 to 102 people. Then there are four other Renaissance meeting rooms on Level 3. Finally, there is the Auditorium, which is actually an 800-seat theater.
The 543-room Renaissance is managed by Marriott International.
China Daily reports the Marriott managed Renaissance is truly international.
For example, it is currently running an Australian promotion which has kangaroo and emu meat — most of which Australians have never tasted — premium Australian Wagyu sirloin and rib eye which are, in fact, Japanese style beef and, again, rarely eaten in Australia. On the other hand there are 14 wines and six beers which means on the liquid side you can seriously dine Aussie style.
